Welcome to my new photography blog.
I am a newbie in DSLR photography after years of using digital compact camera. I bought my first DSLR as an impulse buy during a sale. It seemed to be a good idea at the time. My thought was I need to own a DSLR to learn one. I bought an entry-level DSLR. It was a big mistake! I regretted not buying the higher range model. Another mistake was I also bought a few gadgets which I thought I would need. They all ended up in the storage for a long time.
I came up with the idea of this blog so that other aspiring newbie photographers, thinking of taking up DSLR photography as a hobby, would not make the same mistakes I did. I also want to share my learning experience in DSLR photography.
First lesson I learnt was NEVER buy anything on impulse.
Before buying your first DSLR, I would recommend that you do some homework. Learn a few things about DSLR photography and understand the basic tech jargon. You don't have to know everything from the beginning but just enough for you to make a good, well-informed decision when it's time to buy your first DSLR. And not wasting your precious money in the process.
Define your area of interest. There are numerous websites and online forum that are helpful for DSLR newbies and beginners to make decision on your first camera and accompanying gadgetry that would suit your area of interest either landscape, portrait, macro or just general photography.
In my next post I will try to help you make that decision on buying your first DSLR!
